The Transformation

BEFORE

From Basic Yard to Untapped Potential

Before this transformation, the backyard was a wide-open lawn with limited functionality. While it offered space, it lacked definition, comfort, and purpose — leaving the homeowners with an underutilized outdoor area that didn’t match their lifestyle. The challenge was to design a backyard that blended recreation, relaxation, and timeless design without feeling overwhelming or cluttered.

DESIGN

A Thoughtful Plan for Play and Connection

The design vision centered around creating a multifunctional outdoor retreat that balanced clean structure with cozy gathering spaces. A synthetic turf bocce ball court introduced a playful yet elegant focal point, while a pool with natural stone boulder water feature added energy and tranquility. The layout incorporated Versa-Lok seat walls, Belgard pavers, and lush planting beds to create zones for entertaining, lounging, and family fun. Every detail was chosen to deliver a seamless flow and a modern, welcoming aesthetic.

AFTER

An Inviting Backyard Built for Living

The completed project is a stunning example of how design can turn an ordinary yard into a personal resort. With the pool glistening as the centerpiece, the bocce ball court invites friendly competition, while the fire pit and lounge areas provide warm, intimate spaces for connection. The thoughtful combination of stone, turf, and plantings creates a polished yet natural look that feels both minimal and cozy. Today, the homeowners enjoy a backyard that is not only beautiful but also perfectly tailored to their everyday life.

FAQs

The cost of landscaping is difficult to generalize without site-specific information and an understanding of the specific vision for your home. However, Realtors published an article that states that a homeowner can expect to spend between 10-12% of the cost of their home on landscaping. We have found that for many projects, this is a fairly accurate projection, however, many projects are above or below that average based on the homeowner’s objectives, specific site requirements, and finished material selections.

Absolutely. We work with homeowners on a regular basis to create phasing plans for their projects. We will phase a project to meet the clients’ initial budget goals, while maintaining a cohesive design that can be flawlessly completed in 2 stages or 10, based on your specific needs.

There’s typically not a lot of maintenance in the first year or two after plants are installed.  The above ground growth is minimal as the plants are trying to get root establishment as vigorously as possible.

Most plants require at least a light pruning each year (spring and fall are best) and it may be necessary to remove some dead wood or dormant material after the winter season.

The most important thing you can do to care for your plants is adhere to a strict watering plan, especially within the first year after installation.  Click here to learn more about how to water your plants.
